The new kit is now available exclusively at HotRodReverend.com.
Most subscribers know that the move from California to Pennsylvania has been highly successful for personal reasons and for the sake of my life calling. However, for the ongoing projects that we had going out in California, the trail of schrapnel spans the United States it seems. One of those projects that fell apart was the reproduction of an original Ford part that provided a means of routing crankcase fumes from the block to the intake.

Reproduction of this early 60's Ford part has proved elusive.
Every week I receive multiple requests for information on PCV installations and specifically for the adapter pictured above. While I wait on a low cost option to put this piece into production, I have found something very close to original that will certainly work. In addition to the adapter, the kit I have assembled includes all you would need to install a PCV system on a Y Block engine that has the correct valley pan. (These began on 1955 Thunderbirds but went to some sedans in 1956 and many other cars and trucks from 1957-64.)

The installation begins with the valley pan that has a factory breather port at the rear.
First Step
The best place to begin is to watch our video on installing a PCV system for your Y Block Ford V8 engine. As of the initial date of posting this article, the YouTube video has over 12,000 views so there must be some interest. The video lays out a little bit of Y Block history on crankcase ventilation, parts Ford used, and recommendations in the modern day. Of course, the benefits of a PCV system are also discussed.
Next Steps
After locating a valley pan that has the breather provision, review and purchase the Y Block PCV kit at HotRodReverend.com. The kit includes the adapter with 1/2" port, the gasket, the 1/4-20 hold down screw, 1/2 and 3/8 hose, and the inline PCV valve, and a brief set of instructions. I do encourage the use of white lithium grease for the gasket under the adapter. This makes clocking the adapter a breeze. If you already have the correct valley pan there will not be a need to remov the intake manifold. You will need to find a suitable port for the crankcase fumes to be routed into your intake manifold. The 3/8" line can be routed to the port on your late model carburetor, a port on your carburetor spacer, or even the intake maniofld if the tapped port is near the center of the intake. Bear in mind that using a port at a different location like the rear port found on many of the ECZ 9425 B intakes will cause some of your cylinders to be leaner than the others. The idea is to get even distribution of the crankcase fumes.
Watch the Video
The video below reviews the kit, chronicles the installation, and gives helpful tips not covered here in the article. I highly encourage you to watch it.
The kit overall is very close to what I had desired to provide back in the month of May, 2026. If I can find a company to manufacture the PCV adapter then I will be in a position to keep more kits in stock and offer the entire kit for a much cheaper price. Cutting out the middle man will help to bring the price of that adapter down. For now, it is what it is!
